Artist Statement: “Arrange Your Tools” is a 16mm meditation on the object ephemera of the creative act and its relationship to improvisation, collaborative experimentation, and material fetishization. The featured trio first premiered their interdisciplinary composition at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in 2025, where the flugelhorn of master trumpeteer Briana Gillet responded to the aerial artistry of Carina Gillet, as live-mixed and modulated by Nora Price. The sculptural form of their aerial apparatus inspired a visual study on 16mm film of the manipulation of hardware at every scale, from joint pin and mouthpiece to rope rigging and metal quadripod. This imagery further resonated with Price’s text and audio piece “Arrange Your Tools,” from which the title is drawn, and which is complemented in the score by a field capture of the trio’s live performance.
