[1] The word "noose" is written as "بﺎﻨط" in Persian. This word begins with the letter "ط". * Iran has the highest rate of executions per capita in the world, with hundreds carried out annually—over 1000 in 2024 alone.
Ali Asadollahi is a poet, songwriter, and translator based in Tehran, Iran. He pursued an M.A. in Persian Language and Literature at the University of Tehran and is the author of six published books of Persian poetry. For the past two decades, his poems have seen wide publication in prominent Iranian literary anthologies and journals. A permanent member of the Iranian Writers’ Association (established in 1968), he has earned several domestic literary accolades, including the Young Poets’ Book of the Year Aweard and the Iranian Journalists’ Poetry Prize. His poetry and translations have been featured in Denver Quarterly, Diode, Epoch, Modern Poetry in Translation, and many other journals; upcoming appearances include Another Chicago Magazine, Lunch Ticket, and Poetry Wales, etc.
